Ian MacKay focuses on assisting clients with complex economic, regulatory and policy problems in transportation and represents them before Parliamentary Committees, the Canadian Transportation Agency, Transport Canada, Arbitrations and other Government of Canada agencies and departments. He advises shippers, railways, airport authorities, ports, shipper associations, aviation security providers, municipalities, federal and provincial governments and others with transportation issues. He advises and represents clients on rail level of service, interswitching, rates and final offer arbitration, running rights and track sharing, noise and vibration complaints, rail expropriation, grain revenue cap, commuter and passenger rail, road and utility crossings, airport screening, aviation security, Canadian ownership of air carriers, airport policy, rail and aviation liability issues, aviation and rail safety regulation including safety management systems (SMS) and transportation mergers and acquisitions.

Ian MacKay brings 29 years of experience as a lawyer in transportation and as an executive within Transport Canada, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and the Canada Transportation Act Review. He opened a boutique law firm specializing in transportation law in 2007 following his successful federal sector career and joined Conlin Bedard as Counsel in 2014. He was also a part-time Member of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada from 2009 to 2014.
